Genealogical Society announces D.C. tour

The West Valley Genealogical Society is hosting a research tour to the nation’s capital Dec. 3-11.

Attendees will have access to the world’s largest body of research material. On-site orientations include the National Archives, the Library of Congress and the DAR Library. Non-researches are also invited to attend and explore the city.

Food drive collects more than 100,000 lbs. of food

On May 10, the National Association of Letter Carriers collected 107,240 pounds of food in one day for the United Food Bank’s Stamp Out Hunger Drive.

The drive will help provide 89,366 meals to feed the hungry in Arizona.

Stamp Out Hunger is the nation’s largest single-day food drive. United Food Bank has taken part in the drive since 1993.

Free vacation Bible school offered in June

The Church at Litchfield Park will host a free community vacation Bible school from 6:30 to 8 p.m. June 2 to 9.

The school is for children 3 years old to fifth grade. It will feature songs, activities, games, snacks and Bible study.

The church is at 300 N. Old Litchfield Road in Litchfield Park.

Registration open for Buckeye’s summer program

The city of Buckeye is accepting applications for its summer program called UniverCITY.

Children will be able to participate in a variety of classes such as drama, art, fitness and science.

The program is for children pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
