Meck, a former mayor and councilman, defeated candidate Michael Todd by 49 votes, 1,374 to 1,325, according to official election results from the Buckeye Town Clerk's Office.
"I feel good. It has been a long 4 months," said Meck. "It is time to go forward now."
Meck, who recently retired from the Buckeye Water Conservation and Drainage District, garnered 50.63 percent of the vote, and Todd 48.82 percent.
Meck said that he wanted the council to work together "to connect the dots in Buckeye and bring the communities together."
Attracting jobs to Buckeye was a priority for him, he said.
"It is time to move forward and bring the jobs here. We have to make it so that people can work and live here. Especially with the gas prices - we have to do the best we can," Meck said.
Meck will take his seat as mayor on June 3 along with District 1 Councilman Brian McAchran, who voters elected in the primary.

Buckeye had only 2699 voters that voted on May
20th for Mayor of Buckeye. We are a town of over 40000 and that is all that voted. Those that didn't vote, don't complain if things don't go your way.
