The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office announced plans to send 200 deputies and volunteer posse members to conduct a crime suppression sweep in and around Buckeye Friday, according to a release from the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies will target the area near Interstate 10 and Miller Road for the operation because 12 homicide victims, believed to be illegal immigrants, have been dumped in the area during the last five years.
The Sheriff's Office reported the area is a route used by human smugglers. Deputies conducted four similar sweeps in other parts of the Valley in 2008.
