Three people were sent to the hospital in critical and serious conditions after a three-vehicle collision Wednesday on Interstate 10 in Goodyear.

The Goodyear Fire Department responded at approximately 5:50 p.m. to the wreck on eastbound I-10, just east of Perryville Road, said Russ Braden, a battalion chief and spokesman for the department.

“Once the first unit arrived on scene, additional fire units were requested due to one patient requiring mechanical extraction and the critical nature of the injuries to the patients in one of the vehicles,” he said.

A total of 24 personnel were assigned to the accident, Braden added.

A girl was transported to Phoenix Children’s Hospital via air ambulance in critical condition.

Two women, one in serious condition and the other in critical condition, were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix.

They were all from the same vehicle, Braden said.

He added that the passengers in the two other vehicles did not require medical attention.

The Department of Public Safety officials told the View that they are investigating the crash.
