Litchfield Park team wins district softball title

The Litchfield Park Nightmares 9-10U All-Star team defeated Buckeye, 21-5, June 27 to win the Little League district championship and advance to the 12-team, double-elimination state tournament, which begins July 16 at Thorpe Park in Flagstaff.

Members of the Nightmares are: Hanna Bowers, Lyndsey Barker, Emma Bolin, Masie Moncibaez, Madison Hinojos, Alyssie Blythe, Ann Marie Murphy, Sarah Wallschlaeger, Analese Helland, Sadie Levandowski, Maya Seek and Ryan O’Hagan. Coaches are: Rob Barker, Jason Berges and Scott Levandowski.

Pair of baseball camps on the docket for Buckeye

Buckeye Union High School will host a pair of baseball camps during the moth of July.

The first camp, for players ages 8 to 14, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. July 15-19, and will cover hitting, catching, throwing, pitching, base running and knowledge of the game.

Instructors will be Buckeye head coach Danny Rodriguez and his staff; Jared Aker, head baseball coach at Glendale Apollo High School; and Scott Richardson, head coach at Tolleson High School.

The cost is $65.

The second camp, for players 11-14, will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 24-26 and will cover pitching, catching and hitting only.

Instructors will be Buckeye head coach Danny Rodriguez and his staff.

The cost $45.

Both camps will be held at Ellis Field, 902 E. Eason Ave., Buckeye.

Millennium to host summer volleyball camp

A summer volleyball camp for players ages 14 and younger will be held July 22-25 at Millennium High School.

The camp will focus on essential volleyball skills. Through demonstration and application, each player will work on passing, setting, serving and hitting techniques, as well as agility and volleyball-specific conditioning.

The cost for the camp is $50.
