Police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a young girl March 27 in Buckeye.
The girl was walking home from school at about 4:30 p.m. in the 500 block of East Centre Avenue when she was approached by a man driving a sedan, said Sgt. Jason Weeks, a spokesman for the Buckeye Police Department.
The man told the girl to get in the car. When she said no, the suspect got out of the car and chased the girl down the street for about a block, Weeks said.
The girl managed to outrun the suspect and hide behind some bushes at an abandoned house until he left the area, Weeks said.
Police searched the area after they were called by the girl’s mother, but found no leads, officials said.
The girl told police that the man was wearing gray pants, a black jacket, a black hat and a red bandana on the lower half of his face. He was described as white and in his 40s to early 50s, police said.
He was driving an older model, dark blue, four-door sedan with a dent in the driver’s door, police said.
Anyone with information should contact Detective Joe Preston at 623-349-6400.
