“Empire” actor Bryshere Gray

“Empire” actor Bryshere Gray was arrested at a Goodyear home on charges of domestic violence, kidnapping and aggravated assault.

Goodyear police arrested Bryshere Gray, an actor from the show “Empire,” on charges of domestic violence, kidnapping and aggravated assault July 13.

Around 10:15 p.m. Sunday night, police responded to a call at a Circle K on 15535 W. McDowell Road to assist Gray’s wife.

“The woman had flagged down a citizen for help moments earlier at another nearby gas station stating that she had been assaulted at her Goodyear home for the last several hours by her husband,” said Lt. Jason Costello of the Goodyear Police Department.

“The victim had numerous visible injuries on her body and also stated that she was strangled at one point by Gray and temporarily lost consciousness. She was taken to a nearby hospital.”

Police responded to a home on South 176th Lane, where Gray was contacted but refused to leave the home, Costello said. “Due to the barricade situation and the felony domestic violence charges at hand, Goodyear SWAT and Crisis Negotiations were called in to assist. The situation was finally resolved early this morning just after 7:00 a.m., when Gray approached officers at the front of his residence and surrendered without incident.”

He was taken to Maricopa County Jail. His wife was released from the hospital, Costello said.

Gray faced a preliminary hearing in Maricopa County Superior Court July 20.

According to charging documents, Gray “Intentionally or knowingly impeded the normal breathing or circulation of blood of Candice Jimdar by applying pressure to the throat or neck or by obstructing the nose and mouth either manually or through the use of an instrument.”
