CFA honorees are recognized at the annual Arizona City/County Management Association luncheon in July. The award is named in honor of Gabe Zimmerman, who lost his life on January 8, 2011, while serving the citizens of Arizona at a constituent outreach event.
DeBlieux and Godbehere, dedicate countless volunteer hours to a cause in which they deeply believe. The two met during Leadership West Class XXII and founded the movement as a class final project in 2017.
Now in the Speak Up, Stand Up, Save a Life Conference’s third year, over 5,000 students, counselors, law enforcement, parents and education advocates came together at Grand Canyon University in January to eradicate the stigma and consequences of bullying and to prevent teen suicide. Due to their efforts to help Arizona be a better place for this and future generations, 38 school districts participated with a total of 158 schools.
The daylong event inspired attendees to connect and create lasting solutions they can implement back at their schools. What makes this free youth conference unique is the innovative speakers, and the outreach offered to the adults. This amazing movement has touched almost 400,000 lives throughout the state.
