Two men were shot, one by four Buckeye Police officers, in unincorporated Maricopa County Oct. 13.
The man shot by officers died. He allegedly shot a man who was seriously injured.
According to police spokeswoman Donna Rossi, a 911 call stating “someone’s been shot behind my house” was received at 6:10 p.m.
Though the area of West Lower Buckeye and South Watson roads is a “county island,” Buckeye officers arrived on the scene before Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department deputies.
Responding officers provided first aid to the victim while other officers searched for the suspect, Rossi said.
At 6:25 p.m., Buckeye officers found the suspect on foot a few blocks from the first shooting.
“The suspect fired at officers who returned fire,” Rossi said.
The suspect died at the scene. The person he allegedly shot was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“Four officers were involved in the shooting. None of them were injured,” Rossi said.
Rossi said the MCSO is handling the investigation.
